Compression therapy
High venous system pressure in varicose vein disease can temporarily be managed with Medical compression therapy. Applying medical compression therapy externally to the lower leg provides constant pressure which improves venous return and reduces oedema.
The two most commonly used compression therapy systems are: compression bandages and compression hosiery. This modality can be used before surgical intervention to control venous disease progress, or immediately after surgical intervention to improve management outcome. Compression systems may contain elastic or inelastic materials or a combination of both.
Compression hosiery should be applied by trained nurse or doctor according to the manufacturer’s guidelines to be effective in venous disease management. compression hosiery is available at The Vein surgery clinic for patients before and after surgical intervention.
